By Air

Christchurch International Airport is the transport hub for all Domestic and International flights from around the world. From the Airport a variey of transport options are available.

Bus: The 'City Flyer' is Christchurch's Public Bus operating daily from outside the Airport Terminal - look for the bus shelter signs for 'City Flyer' located near the International Arrival Terminal. The bus stops along Park Terrace, from there Dorset House is just around the corner in Dorset Street.

Airport Shuttle: Shuttles are available outside the Airport Terminal to take you directly to Dorset House.

Taxi: a taxi stand is located outside the Airport Terminal.

Rental Cars: all major rental companies have offices at the Airport Terminal for you to hire cars from. Dorset House is easy find situated just of the main city to airport route.

By Train

The Christchurch Train Station is situated not far from the city and close to the south side of Hagley Park. It is the termination stop for both the 'TranzAlpine' and 'TranzCoastal' train journeys. From the train station a shuttle is available to transport you to Dorset House a reasonable rate. Dorset House provides a free return shuttle service to the train station.


By Coach

The InterCity bus terminal is centrally located at 123 Worcester Street, in central Christchurch. From here it is approximately a 10 minute walk across the cental city and down Victoria Street to Dorset Street and the Dorset Street Backpackers. Alternatively, there are taxis available from close to the bus terminal in the Square. Atomic Travel coaches will drop you off directly at Dorset House.

By Bus

The 'Airport Flyer' can be caught from the Bus Exchange located centrally in Lichfield Street and has a stop along Park Terrace, a 2 minute walk away from Dorset House!  The Bus Exchange is the central hub for almost all bus routes in Christchurch and the services can be used to access most parts of the city and surrounds.

By Private Vehicle

Dorset House is located on Dorset Street, which centrally located between Park Avenue (that runs alongside Hagley Park) and Victoria Street (one of the main streets in and out of the central city).


By Shuttle

A shuttle service runs from both the Airport and Train Station.  Both of these services provide a 'door to door' service to Dorset House.

By Bike

Whether you choose to bike through the beautiful Hagley Park to Park Avenue or along the city streets to Park Avenue or Victoria Street, Dorset Street is easy find centrally located between Park Avenue and Victoria Street. Many cycle paths and cycling areas exist, especially around the cultural precinct along Park Avenue/Rolleston Avenue past the Botanic Gardens down to Christchurch Public Hospital.


By Walking

Dorset House is located approximately 10 minutes walk from the Square. Follow Colombo Street north to Victoria Square and walk diagonally across this square towards the footbridge over the Avon River.  Then head around the Christchurch Town Hall to Kilmore Street and turn left. Cross the roads and continue down the street that goes diagonally out of the city (Victoria Street).  Follow Victoria Street down until you come to Dorset Street on your left, turn into this street and you will see Dorset House located at the Hagley Park end of the street.
